We find our young heroine in her room for tonight, maybe longer. It's a big room! And it had a window with a nice view of the garden below. Two of the walls are heavy stone, but the other two are bamboo and paper- traditional style. The room has traditional decorations, too; low tea table, futon (or whatever), some old painted scrolls, the works. It's nice. And seems expensive. Now, let's see what Miya's up to! * Miya is sitting on her futon. The sunglasses are tossed on the low table, and she's rummaging through her half open duffel bag. * Miya ahs as she finally finds what she was looking for: a beat up white tiger, part beanbag, part plushie. She leans back, lying down on the futon, and holds it up in front of her face. "What do you think, Hikaru?" she asks, in Japanese, natch. "It's really different from home." ( Cute! ^.^ ) (^_^_v) I kind of miss home, really. It's weird, because I always wanted to get out, and now I haven't even been gone for a couple weeks, and I'm missing it. I wonder how people handle going to college and stuff. * Miya blows some loose strands of hair from her face. "'Course, they probably didn't get kicked out, either." * Miya hops to her feet easily and walks over to the window with Hikaru in arm. She peers outside. It's a nice garden. And a nie view of Tokyo at night. * Miya sighs. "It's really pretty, isn't it?" she asks the tiger. "I'd go for a walk, but I dunno if they'd let me out right now." * Miya considers. "Well, I guess they wouldn't mind too much if I went for a walk inside..." She heads on off to do some exploring, Hikaru in tow. The hallways are empty this late at night. * Miya cheerfully goes exploring. ^^ She fell asleep on the way here, so she's not all that tired right now. Miya heads down the hall until it turns to the right. * Miya goes that way! About halfway down this leg of hallway is a straicase. * Miya climbs the staircase. This is getting interesting. The staircase leads up to a short hallway and a foor with a single guard. Door, even. The staircase leads down, too. * Miya blinks at the guard. (Does the hallway go anywhere else?) ( Nope. The third floor is pretty much this one room, apparently. ) * Miya tilts her head, as her curiosity is really piqued, but there's this guard, which means that she has to... talk to someone. Oh well. The door stands there impassively. * Miya walks over to the guard. "Hello?" ...the guard, even. The guard looks at Miya briefly, but says nothing. * Miya blushes a little and looks to the floor. She clutches Hikaru. "Um. I was just wondering what's back there? You don't have to tell me." "This is the Lady's chambers. I'm afraid your're not allowed in." Oh. Oh! I see. Okay, thank you. * Miya smiles at him briefly, then scrambles down the stairs - two floors. That was way too much effort. The guard visibly almost smiles, but doesn't. (Really? I shall just have to hit him with another cute attack! Bwahaha!) Miya finds herself on the ground level. The stairway opens onto a t- itersection. Forward is a short hall leading to a door which in turn leads to the courtyard. There are no guards visible here. * Miya looks around, then heads towards the courtyard. Hey, it's not *outside* outside... right? The courtyard is very courtyardish. Across the courtyard is a dojo. The castle encloses the courtyard on all sides. There are two guardsin the courtyard; they note Miya's presence, but don't get uptight. * Miya looks around. "Wow." She wanders for a little, but ultimately ends up at the dojo. Because, well, at least she's familiar with that. The lights in the dojo are on. Once Miya gets close, she can hear voices. * Miya blinks. She really shouldn't be eavesdropping. She really shouldn't... oh, heck. She's eavesdropping. The conversation is in English, which is fine with Miya. It seems to be the two gaijin from the restaurant. The first one Miya can hear clearly is Remmy, who says ( in his out- raaaaaaaaaageous accent ) "Look, all I'm sayin' is--" (And it's such a fun accent, too. ^^) Logan cuts in with "I know what you're sayin', Cajun. You wanna stay so you can pull my bacon out of the fryer when I get in over my head." * Miya frowns a little at that. Bacons? Fryer- oh, he must mean trouble. "Huh," laughs Remmy humorlessly. "Then we bot' agree is' 'when' and not 'if', non?" After a pause, Logan says "Maybe." "But it doesn't matter. She needs to get to the 'States. Chuck'll be the best one to take care of her." * Miya bites her lip and keeps listening. So you really think she's one of us, eh? Sure enough. She may not have any powers, but the way things're goin' it don't matter. If there's even a chance-- Den she be safer wit' Charles. Sure. * Miya nearly yelps at that and covers her mouth. But what 'bout you, mon ami? It's a day there an' anudda back, an-- did you hear somethin'? Not a thing. And I can keep alive for two days, Gambit. ...I'm sure I heard-- No, you didn't. Trust me. What'ere you say, mon ami. About a minute passes. You can hear that one of them is performing katas-- through the paper door, you can see the shadow of the practicioner, and you're pretty sure it's Logan. * Miya watches. He's good. Really, awfully good. She has to wonder how he'd match up to her dad. ...fine. I got wid' her to the states, but I'm comin' right back. If you die, all I got to play pool wit' is Bobby an' Scott, an-- Bobby cheats and Scott's a sore looser. Heh, I know. 'Xactly. (*snerk*) ( ^_^_v ) * Miya looks down at Hikaru. Looks like they're sending me to the states, she thinks to it. What do I do now? (Sadly, neither Gambit nor Wolvie are telepathic.) ( Fortunately, Hikaru is, as are all stuffed animals. ) (Of course.) * Miya sighs softly and hugs the plush. More time goes by. * Miya looks at the door and then back down towards the plushie, then starts walking softly to her room. Looks like she doesn't have many directions to go now. You any idea what she thinks 'bout bein' sent to Westchester? Nope. You could ask her, tho. I'm pretty sure she's been outside for a while. * Miya blinks and stops. She looks back at the dojo with wide eyes. ...I tought you said-- Heh. * Miya facepalms. Looks like he knew all along. What's with that short guy, anyway? Remmy runs the the door and pushes it aside, looking out in disbelief. His strange eyes glow faintly as he looks around and notices Miya. * Miya waves sheepishly. "Dad would be soooo pissed." (In English, by the by. She's trying to keep manners here. Erm, despite the eavesdropping. ^^) Remmy shakes his head, smiling. "Heh. 'Bout what?" Remmy grins. "He not approve of eavedroppin'?" Well, yeah. "Heh." * Miya scuffs at the ground a little. "And if you guys heard me, then it'd be bad 'cause people aren't s'posed to hear me when I don't want to be heard. Or something." Heh. May as well come in, if you want." * Miya blushes. "Um. Okay. Sorry about... um." She races in. Remmy shrugs and stands aside so Miya can walk past. He asks, "How much did you hear, anyway?" Well, that- that you're gonna take me to the States to see someone named Chuck, and then you're gonna come back because Logan's in trouble and maybe gonna die or something and there's nobody to play pool with and I didn't mean to listen in, honest! Easy there. Yeah, I want you to go to the states. An' I want Remmy to go with to make sure you get there okay. Chuck -- Charles Xavier, is a friend of mine. He runs ...a magnet school, I guess, in Westchester. He can take care of you. * Miya hugs Hikaru to her chest and blinks at Logan. "Magnet school?" she asks uncertainly. Yeah. A school meant to attract certain kinds of students. I- I don't understand. I never was very good at school. Heh. Neither was I. You never went to school, did you, Remmy? 'Course I did! ...for a while. * Miya giggles a little before she stops herself. Logan turns back to Miya with a sincere look on his face. "Look, you don't have to do good. Just try, and Charles'll keep a roof over your head, and you won't have to worry about... things." * Miya chews on her lower lip. "Things? You mean like the yakuza?" Logan resumes his katas. "Won't have to worry about them either, no." * Miya watches Logan start up again and relaxes a little. "So I'm going to school in the States." She muses over that. What about you? Me an' Mariko have some buisness to finish here. Um, but... but you said you could get hurt or something... * Miya looks to Remmy for confirmation. Remmy notices the look, and nods, also answering for his friend. "Is rough bidness." * Miya fidgets a little. "Then are you sure you want to stay by yourself? 'Cause if they're like those guys back there, um..." She trails off. Logan chuckles. "If they're like those guys back at the restaurant it won't be a problem." * Miya scratches the back of her head. Oh. So I guess they're not then, huh. Not all of 'em, no. Now look, you just let me worry about my problems, alright? * Miya shrinks in on herself, and seems about ready to just nod in agreement, but then she blinks and looks up at Logan. "That's not fair." How come you get to worry about my problems when I don't get to worry about yours? Remmy grins. "Oooh, she's got you dere, Logan." Logan stops his katas for a moment. Apparently, he can't come up with a good answer to that, because he doesn't. * Miya smiles a little. You could almost swear her plushie's smiling, too. (Because, you know, he's psychic.) Then I guess I get to worry about them. So there. (muttered)rassumfrassumsmartalleclittle(/muttered) Alright, you can help. But you're gonna need to be open with me. * Miya beams. "Okay!" First off, what can you do? * Miya blinks. Do? Like... how? I tink what he's tryin' to get at in a way that ain't as subtle as he tink it is, is do you have any powers? Can you do things other people can't? * Miya scratches at the back of her head. "Um, well, I won the gymnastics regional a few years straight. And Dad said I'm about an orange belt. And, um... oh, you mean like exploding things and claws and stuff?" Yeah, like that. Remmy can make things blow up. The claws, actually, are mechanical. I never asked for 'em. * Miya nods. "Oh, okay. Um, well." She thinks. My eyes are funny, but that's not really a power. I've never fallen down, which I never *thought* was a power, but now that I think about it, it's kinda weird. I mean, who's never fallen over at least once? But I've never fallen off anything, even when I was learning how to do the balance beam. Logan nods. "Alright. That's a start." And I react really fast. And, um... * Miya frowns, trying to think of the right word in English. I can... what's the word. Um... * Miya looks at Wolverine and asks in Japanese, "How do you say 'teleport' in English?" Logan looks impressed. He says, in English, "'Teleport'. And can you really do that?" * Miya nods and demonstrates, vanishing in a flash of white and reappearing on the other side of the dojo. Remmy looks impressed now. "Hey, nice. Tres bien." Logan nods sagely. "Yeah, you might do alright. How far can you teleport?" * Miya smiles nervously, speaking in English again. "Um, about a hundred meters. I *can* teleport farther, but there's a pretty good chance I'll screw up." * Miya wrinkles her nose. Last time I tried, I ended up in a garbage dump. It was really gross. Logan nods. "Alright. But if nothing else, it'll give you a way to get out if you're in trouble. That's good." [ session... zzz.... zzz... ] [ ...huhwhuI'MAWAKE... oh, right. Session End. ]
