Okay! You're all in the room with lots of windows again. Picture yourself there. Be there. Ohm. Ooooohm. (*thwaps Robert*) Sayuri's there with her laptop facing one of the windows. Apparently a way was found for her to access the internet from this far-off dimension. Shucks, she might've learned something from it. But you're all there, and now it falls to you to figure out where to go from there. So, yeah. [SESSION START.] * Marguerite stands there, a map in one hand and a pencil in the other. * Rina clasps her hands behind her back as she watches Sayuri. * Marguerite is also smoking two cigarettes at once. * Yoji idly doodles something. * Togo is busily checking each and every one of his AP rounds, muttering. * Sayuri is looking at her laptop angrily, typing things, and looks really tired. * Marguerite waves Robert over. "C'mere. I gotta ask you something." * Robert walks over and sits down next to Maggie. What's up? * Jacqueline leans against a wall, arms folded. * Marguerite talks around both cigarettes, which produces an odd tone to her speech. "Togo and I got to talking last night, while we were in the dining room. Way we figured it, we can't take this guy down alone, right?" Depends on how we do it, but no matter how we approach it, the chances aren't good. * Togo holds up one bullet and scowls. "You're not supposed to bounce... you're supposed to pierce armor. You're an armor piercing bullet. So do it, mmm-kay?" *slips it back into magazine* I think that Togo has finally snapped under the pressure. * Rina looks over at Togo and stifles a giggle. * Yoji snickers a bit and keeps doodling. There have to be some sources of resistance left. So we decided the best way to locate it would be to split into pairs, and head back to wherever we came from. I've got contacts in the Middle East and Easter Europe, Togo's got connections in Japan still, I s'pose you've got stuff in the US, and maybe Jackie's got some stuff in France. I've got stuff in the US and Japan, actually. * Sayuri curses. "You'd think I was the only one of these idiots with a fragging mind." Not so much the US anymore. * Togo shrugs helplessly. "I'm used to people bleeding and falling down when I shoot them. Nowadays, everyone seems to be laughing off my bullets. Figured maybe they were getting a bit of a self-confidence problem... But maybe a few. *** DemoX-Com is now known as Demota * Rina wanders by Sayuri. "That's 'cause you are." She keeps going and stops next to Jacqueline. So while Sayuri gets her 'lectronic schwing on, I figured we'd get working on organizing something approaching a resistance. That's certainly not a _bad_ idea. D'screetly as possible, of course. * Sayuri sighs. "And while you discuss finding people who are resisting, I note that anyone who stood up to the guy is quite dead right now. Just so you know." * Togo nods. "I was in pretty well with most of the Japanese police and military higher ups. Did a lot of work for 'em." * Marguerite looks at Sayuri. "It's be nice if you'd shut yer yap, considering we're about to be people who stand up to him." The problem being exactly what Sayuri just said. We'll have to show a little resistance ourselves, first. Blow up a base or two, show that we're not going away. Exactly. Which is why we're looking for the people who got didn't stand up, and got away. After that, we might be able to find people who are getting their backbone back. Togo mentioned something like that. * Sayuri sighs. "I'm just informing you of the situation. 20 million dead, but he doesn't seem to care about establishing any real control." ...excuse me? ...20 million... Yeah... something not too tough, but significant enough to get attention... * Robert crosses himself. * Rina sighs. * Marguerite shakes her head. "Mm." ... s'a lotta dead people. Bastard's gotta go down. * Sayuri looks over at Robert briefly. "He's gearing up for war, didn't you hear Xiv? He's producing mechs and holding beasts all over the world. Controls on business and slave labor, etc. The basics." Great. So we hit a base. * Yoji clenches his hands into fists. Fortunately his pencil doesn't break. A weapons depot, a control center, a mecha factory, a beast breeding facility... something like that. Sayuri... * Rina rubs at her arms. "I think it'd be better to find some of the resistance first." I wanna, Rina, but nobody's gonna take us seriously unless we show we're serious first. * Marguerite grinds out one of her cigarettes on her leg. "Point being, Rina, that there might not BE any resistance till we show he's not invulnerable." I think we should do it in one swift stroke. Get in, eliminate him, get out. Is there... is there any sort of register of the dead? If Dejiko was around, we'd have instant credibility. She's not, so we gotta do it the hard way. * Sayuri looks back at the computer amd mutters, "Yeah, once we hit him, he'll just find us and wipe us out. Brilliant plan." I dunno, Togo. I think they'd take anyone they can get. ... if you have a better plan, speak up, Sayuri. Until that point, can the goddamn attitude, please. We don't need it right now. * Rina blinks at Marguerite. "There's gotta be resistance. Even if just a little. They might not be *doing* much, but slave labor... it's gotta be out there." * Marguerite ponders. 2d6-2 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Marguerite (2d6-2) and gets 7. (*sigh* That's minus three. I keep forgetting.) Yeah, there's a list. Suppose it's the least the netheads could do. Could you... And I note, Togo, that the sadly obvious solution to keeping him from counterattacking is to not leave him alive. * Sayuri huffs. * Jacqueline nods at Sayuri. "Like I said, we should eliminate him in one move." Could you check it for a couple of people? ... if we had the manpower or the firepower to take him down in one shot, we wouldn't be sitting here right now. How? What if he just does that Amorphia thing or whatever again? We don't. He controls the entire freaking world. We gotta take this slow and smart. *** DemoSleep has joined #ChibiRPG *** DemoSleep is now known as Demotafk *** Demota has quit IRC (SVSKilled: GHOST command used by Demotafk ) *** Demotafk is now known as Demota We only get to use the element of surprise once. * Sayuri sighs, and yawns. "Probably. Got anyone in mind? And could you come here for a sec, Togo? Need to show you some specific obits. Of the people who attacked random facilities." * Robert gets up and walks over to Sayuri. * Togo walks over. If we start with attacking some factory of his, we lose that, and don't accomplish anything overly signifigant. ...Andrea and Michelle Paulinski. * Sayuri mutters. "I'm too damn tired for this shit." She brings up a pair of lists, the dead, and a number of articles on facility hits that resulted in resistance deaths. * Rina nods at Jacqueline, then looks over at Robert. * Robert looks very, very worried. He could use a cigarrette, if he smoked. * Togo shrugs. "Then we just gotta plan better and carry out the plan better than they did. No other options, really." * Sayuri types in the names for a text search on the deaths list. "... and... nope. Assuming I spelled them right, anyway." * Robert lets out a sigh of relief and collapses against the wall. Thank you, Lord. * Yoji looks at Jacqueline. "I dunno too much about how it works in games, but in all the anime and manga, when the heroes just charge after the bad guy before they're ready, they almost always get smacked down." * Jacqueline looks at Yoji. "In Dynasty Warriors 8, you can spend hours killing privates, sergeants, and majors; more will just keep coming out of the gate. But if you take out the enemy officer first, most of the troops run, and the ones who don't have low morale and are easy to beat." It's not much different in this situation. except we're level 1, and he's level 99. * Rina studies the ground thoughtfully. "This isn't a game. Or an anime. I think we should find some resistance and help them." If we fight him, we will die uselessly. * Marguerite tosses her other cigarette behind her, and lights up two more. Togo. We are _not_ powerful enough to take a guy who can fight Xivilai. Hmm? We're quite the distinctive group, wouldn't you say? So we don't take him on. We get him before he knows what hit him. Yup. And when our bullets bounce off like they did on that dragon? Rather unique bunch, we are. And don't say it won't happen. Find another way. One ex-Army, one ex-Marine, one ex-assassin, a psychic, a high school girl that can benchpress city buses, and a sword wielding girl. * Rina walks over to Sayuri and crouches down next to her. "What do you think?" We stick out like an eighth thumb. That we do. What're you gettin' at? * Sayuri mutters as she types. "I think we need to find some more support. If he's going to invade other dimensions, find some damn extraplanars. I'm not standing up to the guy, or Amorphia, by myself." And I wager that if we strike something, he's going to know we did it. And we'll be screwed before we get started. * Rina nods at Sayuri. "Yeah." Stealth is almost out of the question, if we want to do damage. * Marguerite shakes her head. "We've got to get support, and do this all at once, do or die. We can't dick around and taunt him, or he'll swat us like flies." He thinks we're dead, Marguerite. Sneak in, set some sort of explosives, and sneak out before they go off. And if an officer comes up to him bearing our exact descriptions? He knows what Xiv can do, too. ... but he'll figure it out quick. Too easy for one guy to see us and sneak away. It's too risky. I may gamble, but I am NOT playing these odds. * Yoji looks up at Marguerite. "So...what are you getting at?" ... so we gather the troops and go for the grand charge? I'm backpedaling, Yoji. We've got to get supporters first. Split into pairs, head to where we know a little it about the people. * Marguerite nods to Togo. "That's right." *** Demota has quit IRC (Ping timeout ) If they NEED a demonstration, we can try to give one. But until then, why bother with the risk? I think Marguerite's right. And hopefully, 'jiko'll back up sooner rather than later. * Togo nods. "She is." * Jacqueline sighs. * Marguerite puts her hands on her hips, cigarettes glowing. "So. Any more objections?" ... gotta tell ya, folks, any ideas I'm spouting, I'm flying by the seat of my pants here. Large scale campaigns like this are NOT my area of expertise. *** Demota has joined #ChibiRPG Well... if Sayuri has some idea as to where the resistances are, we can split up and go there. And then... * Rina shrugs. "I don't know." I've given my opinion already. Not that it matters. We're all flying blind, Togo. If you'll pardon the expression. * Sayuri growls at the computer. "Give me something more than aerial photographs, you stupid thing." What about these other worlds we've gone to? If this guys planning to invade other dimensions or something, couldn't we get support from places outside of earth, too? If we could find worlds with potential friendlies. ... point. Jacky and I were fairly highly regarded back where we were stuck. That's harder than it sounds. And they have advanced tech up the wazoo. Maybe Robert and Jackie can go there. We need you to look in Japan, Togo. I'll go with him. * Marguerite nods. * Rina smiles sheepishly. "I just know Japanese. Like to know what they're saying and stuff." I'll need a partner to cover the Middle East and Eastern Europe with me. Who's up for it? * Togo nods. "Works for me." * Sayuri looks up. "France, Hong Kong, Japan and America at least have reports of known resistance, that aren't gone yet. Just FYI." I can go anywhere. Language is not a problem for me. I'll probably be covering America, though. * Marguerite holds her chin in her hand. Togo and Rina in Japan. Who here speaks english? I can. Unless someone else can, that probably means you're with me. I do. I sure as fuck can, but I'm busy. I suppose I can swing by Hong Kong, too. I think maybe having Jackie go to France is a better idea. Hmm. Yeah, Yoji can go with Robert. We need Jackie in France. ( ...it just occured to me. What language do we all talk to each other in? ^^;; ) We've got four places to cover, and only seven people. ( Japanese. ) (I'd assumed Japanese.) (Yep.) ... Unless you count KITT. ( Five places. Don't forget the plane Jacky and I were on. ) (Say it out loud, silly.) I'll go alone. I've got lots of terrain to cover. ( Whoops. ) Five places. Don't forget that plane Jacky and I were on. Can someone do double duty? No. Do forget about it. ... huh? * Sayuri blinks, and shakes her head, yawning. "Christ... I'm really too old for this low sleep stuff." * Togo blinks at Jacky. "Why?" They were kind enough to take care of us when we were stranded. They even gave you back your eyes, Togo. For free. I'm not about to repay them by asking if they'd be willing to die for us. Shouldn't they be warned, at least? Not for free, exactly. I did provide them with enough scientific data on an unknown alien species for decades of research... And I'm not saying to FORCE them. Ask them. It's in their interest too... if they say no, at least they'll know what's going on, and maybe prepare. And you don't have to ask them to fight for you. What about getting more of their technology? Instead of being oblivious while this bastard prepares an attack. Technology will only get us so far. I'll warn them, but nothing beyond that. This guy has an army protecting him. I'm good, but not THAT good. ... they're gonna hafta fight eventually, Jacky. Better they do it on the attack, where it can do some good, than in a desperate and probably futile defense. Not if we do our job right. * Marguerite crushes out her cigarettes and lights two more. She's building up quite a little pile. ... goddammit, we CAN'T do this job right! * Rina looks up at Togo. "Yes, we can. We have to." We're not Xivilai! We're not Dejiko! We're damn good, but this guy's a fucking monster! We need help, if only to let us get close to him. We can't breach all his defenses by ourselves. I tried that with Hayashi. I went through 50 of his guys myself. By the time I got to him, I had 9 or so bullet wounds. He took me apart. Same thing here. We can NOT do this on our own. I don't wanna drag them into this, but they're gonna get dragged in sooner or later. Better to fight where it'll do some good. If this guy's so powerful, then it's not going to matter how many people we have behind us. But I don't believe that. IF we can get close to him... who knows. As a team, we're pretty damn tough. His personal power isn't the issue. The issue is the armies of A class bots he has. We can't even get close to him without some serious fucking backup. I think we need to get stronger ourselves, first. We couldn't even beat the bald guy by ourselves. We don't have years to work with, Yoji. Oh. About him... * Sayuri says softly, "It's only a matter of time before he starts attacking other realms, using ours as a base. We don't have much time, unless we can find a fast realm." About him? I asked Xivilai about him. He's still probably alive. If he is, he might help us. Maybe. ...why would he help us? Thought he wanted to kill Dejiko. * Rina looks over at Yoji. "The bald guy. He was mind-controlled, or something." Oh. Xivilai knew him, from back when she knew Dejiko. Wonderful. Another thing for Sayuri to do. * Sayuri rubs her head. "You'd think they'd invent asprin here." That'd be a start. Guy was one tough bastard. Yeah. * Togo reaches into his coat and tosses Sayuri a thing of light painkillers (asprin-level). * Marguerite finishes marking things on her map. * Robert slowly removes his hand from his belt as Togo tosses the painkillers. ( Yeah! We need to recruit him, and all the other Stars of Destiny! ) ( Togo buys generic brands to save money! =P ) ( Suikomon! Gotta catch them all! ) (All hundred and eight of them? Which star am I? :P) Say, Sayuri, I hate to ask, but could you see if anything major's happened to Eastern Europe? * Sayuri blinks, picks them up off the ground, pops 3, and sets the things down. Type, type, type at the computer. Nothing more than normal. Hole in the earth, strange archway gate, under control, yadda yadda. Wonderful. That axes that plan. Could you be a little more specific, though? * Sayuri rolls her neck briefly. "Like?" What you mean by "hole in the earth" and "archway gate" for starters./ Oh. He's been building strange archways, specifically near his Kennels, for some 'unknown purpose'. And digging large borehole mines in places too, for some not-understood reason. Wonderful. I suppose I can at least check it out. * Marguerite stuffs the map in her satchel. ... well that sounds ominous. * Rina fidgets. Okay, so let's get this finalized. Rina, Togo, you're going to Japan. Robert, Yoji, you're heading to the US. I'm covering Hong Kong and a couple other places. Who are you taking with you? And Jackie can get at least France, if not the other plane. * Marguerite turns to Robert. "Nobody. Sayuri's gotta work from someplace safe, and we've run out of people." ... maybe we all go to the other plane, after we finish here on earth? KITT can go with one of you. * Sayuri frowns. "Oh no. What am I supposed to do from here, Maggie?" KITT's rather hard to miss. * Marguerite looks at Sayuri. "What, this isn't going to work?" I've spent the last 24 hours straight gathering information. There's very little more I can do. You'd be surprised, Togo. He's just a vehicle, after all. Isn't Kitt kinda obvious now that he's got those thingies on the sides? Fine, then. You can go with Jackie, or with me. Pick whichever place you think you can do the most good, but keep in mind that the Net speeds in Eastern Europe are rather low. She should go with you. I'll take KITT. * Rina looks over at Jacqueline and nods. * Marguerite nods. Great. Now let's cease the dithering and get moving. He's not getting any easier to defeat. * Rina stands and stretches. Sayuri, can you print out anything you have about the resistance in the areas we're all going to? What are we supposed to do with these resistances if we find them? * Sayuri chuckles. "No printer, maaaan." Then let us all get a look before we go. No sense flying blind if we have a GOOD source of intel for once. * Robert reaches into his belt and pulls out a small notepad and a pen just like Yoji's. * Sayuri sighs, and starts arranging things on the screen. * Robert starts copying down information. So are we all gonna gather to go to the other plane or not? * Rina looks at Jacqueline. "Help them, I think. Maybe get them to work together." We can try, but we'd have to find someplace to meet. Um... Okay. Well, we know where his HQ is. Jackie - we need to let them know we're fighting, tell them to get organized and wait for us to contact them. * Jacqueline nods. As for where we meet, it's up in the air. Any suggestions? We'll pick you up when we're done? Anyway we can arrainge for Xiv to gate us back here? That might work. But we don't know how long this'll take. ( Xivilai, even. Lord knows why I abbreviated it. ^_^;; ) Can she make more of those cards? And communications are most definitely bugged. Then we could all contact her when we needed to get back here. * Rina blinks at Yoji. "Cards?" Yeah! Sayuri had this card that she used to call Xivilai when we were in Chaos! And, presumably, at the I13 base. Yeah. Oh, so that's what she used. * Sayuri shrugs. "Trumps. I doubt she has any more to give." We don't need to summon her... just a way to contact her and request a teleport. Is that possible? I guess we'd need to ask her. Theoretically, if she's watching us in the windows, it is. But she's probably far too busy. She wouldn't be helping us if she didn't have an interest in this. That guy could show up here one day, after all. * Sayuri yawns. "We can get back here with Kitt and the Trump, certaintly, but that's only half of us." Robert, is your line of communication with KITT one hundred percent secure? I still think we should ask her if she has more. I mean, if she only had one, would she have given it out like that> ? Pretty much, yeah. It's on bands that only children use, generally. It's short range, though. That scratches that, then. I suppose we ask Xiv. * Rina nods. "She'd know, wouldn't she?" (BRB. c.c) (.....*collapses*) (Eep?) ( Shall we take that as a "no"? ) (Back. ^^;) * Sayuri sighs. "Yeah, she would. If she's got spares, we could probably use them." * Sayuri chuckles softly, "Now, if only she'd show up. Hey, Xiv, got any spare trumps?" * Sayuri pulls out a card, and looks at it for a sec. * Sayuri holds out her hand, and suddenly has a pair of similar looking cards. * Rina blinks. ... nice. How do they work? * Marguerite chuckles. "I would swear that was slight of hand if I hadn't just come back from saving someone's soul." * Sayuri pulls her hand across the card, and shakes her head. "Guh." What's wrong? You okay, Sayuri? Just... damn woozy. I'm not 15 and deskbound anymore, s'all. * Rina snickers. Yeah, you're getting weak in your old age. To answer your question. You take the card out, and focus intently on the pictured person. You can cut off contact by pulling your hand across, and Xiv'll probably instruct you on anything else. * Togo nods. * Sayuri gives one to Robert, and one to Togo. "There. Now we can all meet here when we're done." Great. Let's get moving now. We can't afford to waste a single minute. ... * Rina winces. Or two minutes, as the case may be. Yeah. Technology. Gotta love it. Magic, Robert. It's not that hard to say. Let's just go. (So, shall I call it there?) ( Sure. ) * Sayuri sighs, and cracks her neck, chuckling at Rina softly. ( K ) ( Sure. ) * Rina grins at Sayuri. (Yeah, as long as we assume I got my bike off of KITT.) (Go right ahead.) ( If you like. ) (Alright.) [END SESSION. OW, MY HEAD.]
