[00:39] It's a lovely day in not-so-sunny San Fran. You've had a great gig last night, and decided to treat yourself to some windsurfing. The waves are good, and the sun is peeking through the clouds, but it's cool, since you put on about five layers of sunblock today. [00:39] The mist is conspicuously absent, but it'll probably be back in about twenty minutes. It always is. [00:39] (Seriously waterproof sunblock.) [00:40] (Yes. Sunblock technology has improved over the past seventy years, so now it's near resistant to everything but third degree burns.) [00:40] (Huzzah!) [00:42] Intro session start, by the way. ^^ Go to it. [00:42] (So I just start RPing, and you'll come in as needed?) [00:42] (Sorry, never played off myself before. :P) [00:43] (Yes. ^^) [00:43] (It's okay, you shouldn't have to... much. :P) [00:45] * Tyler looks up and down the beach, wrinkling her nose slightly at the crowd. With little more than a sigh, she shucks off the cargo pants she wore over her bathing suit. Ignoring looks from those around, she picks up her windsurfer and slides it across the sand, working it into the water. [00:46] * Tyler paddles it out past a gaggle of swimmers, sits up, and looks around. She's in the clear, and the wind is just picking up. Not unsteadily, she climbs to her feet and grabs ahold of the handlebar, tilting the sail to catch the breeze. [00:46] (Okay, so you can get used to rolling. Roll sports (windsurfing) for me. ^^) [00:47] (Wah. c.c; Uh. Uh. How would I do that?) [00:47] (Okay, it's 2d6 (actually, it's 2d6 for just about everything) minus the level of the skill. Remember that specialty makes it one level higher.) [00:48] (So it'd be... 2d6-3?) [00:48] (Yes. ^^) [00:48] 2d6-3 [00:48] * Dicesuke throws the bones for Tyler (2d6-3) and gets 6. [00:49] (That's a fail. You want to use a DR to roll again? ;P) [00:49] (Uh, sure!) [00:49] 2d6-3 [00:49] * Dicesuke throws the bones for Tyler (2d6-3) and gets 2. [00:50] (There we go!) [00:51] You get out, and soon you're windsurfing with style. You actually, if you're paying attention to such things, draw a small crowd back at the beach. [00:52] (Go me!) [00:53] (Damn straight. ^^) [00:57] As you surf away from shore, the waves get bigger, but you navigate them with ease. [00:57] And if you're not going to do anything more, I want a perception roll out of you. ^_~ [00:57] (Okay! Um. Give me just a second.) [00:57] (^_^ It's cool, part of this is getting used to it.) [00:58] (Is that perception, or awareness? I've got a nice awareness bonus.) [00:58] (Same thing. ^^) [00:58] 2d6-4 [00:58] * Dicesuke throws the bones for Tyler (2d6-4) and gets 0. [00:59] You hear some screaming off to your left, towards shore. It doesn't sound like ye olde delighted by the water screaming, either. [01:01] * Tyler frowns. It takes a bit of maneuvering to get into a different current, but she soon has her windsurfer moving towards the scream. In the back of her mind, she grouses about bad swimmers going places without lifeguards when they can't swim worth a damn. [01:03] As you go thataway, you get a better look: it's a child, not all that much younger than you. He or she is wearing a lifejacket and is splashing frantically, but it's pretty obvious that it's not holding him or her up as well as it should be. [01:03] (Should be about six years younger than you, my bad.) [01:04] (Gotcha.) [01:06] * Tyler mutters under her breath again about stupid kids and irresponsible parents, and moves more carefully across the waves. Not trusting her strength to pull the kid up, she instead attempts to maneuver her board close enough for the kid to grab on to... while not bonking them in the head in the process. [01:06] (Give me another windsurfing roll.) [01:07] 2d6-3 [01:07] * Dicesuke throws the bones for Tyler (2d6-3) and gets 0. [01:07] (Excellent.) [01:07] (^_^_v) [01:07] You pull up next to the kid, who grabs on for dear life. Poor thing - it's still hard to tell if it's male or female - is wide eyed and obviously not used to near death experiences. [01:08] (Yeah. I'm kind of a sarcastic GM. So sue me. :P) [01:08] (*snicker*) [01:09] * Tyler squats down as best she can and offers one hand to the kid while still hanging onto the bar with the other. "Um, climb up if you can. Don't knock me off." [01:11] S/he grabs onto your hand with something close to a deathgrip and does his, as you can see that he's male now, best to climb onto the windsurfer. It takes a few tries, and you nearly topple a couple times, but he does it. [01:16] * Tyler pats the boy on the shoulder while trying to adjust her balance. "Uh, there, there." She pries his hand off and places it on the handlebar. "Can you hold onto that?" [01:17] The boy nods and does that. He manages to gasp out a, "Thanks." [01:17] * Tyler smiles somewhat uneasily. Kids. Brrr. "Okay, hold on. We're going in to shore, and we're going to have to crest some waves to do it. Don't fall." [01:18] He nods frantically, wet bangs getting in his eyes. [01:19] (Do I need to roll again?) [01:21] (You going to do it as safe as possible? Take a -1 bonus.) [01:22] (So, 2d6-4?) [01:23] (Yup!) [01:23] 2d6-4 [01:23] * Dicesuke throws the bones for Tyler (2d6-4) and gets 5. [01:23] (Crap. :P) [01:23] (Give me a mind roll.) [01:23] (Straight 2d6?) [01:24] (Yup.) [01:24] 2d6 [01:24] * Dicesuke throws the bones for Tyler (2d6) and gets 4. [01:27] The windsurfer starts to wobble under you (one of which is inexperienced, though he seems to have halfway decent balance). You manage to catch it just in time, though, and barely straighten it out. [01:28] Before too long, you reach shore. The boy pretty much collapses on the beach. There's a pretty severe rip in his lifejacket. [01:29] * Tyler grounds her windsurfer to keep it from drifting back out, then puts her hands on her hips and YELLS for this kid's parents to come and do their jobs. That taken care of, she kneels next to him and checks to see if he looks like he'll hold on until his folks can take responsibility. [01:30] He looks okay, more or less. People look over at you, but nobody actually heads that way. [01:31] * Tyler swears again, then flops down into a seated position. "Hey. Kid. Know where your folks are?" [01:31] The kid coughs up some water and gets to his knees. "Th- thanks," he manages. "I'm really sorry about that." [01:32] "Um..." He looks around, then shrugs. His eyes widen, and he looks down at his vest. "Mom's gonna kill me." [01:32] "Eh. Just don't do it again." She waves it off, then frowns at him. "Wait. What? Why's she gonna kill you?" [01:34] "'Cause the lifejacket's ruined. See?" He points at the tear. [01:35] "Oh." She waves that off with a snort. "That stuff's cheap. No big deal." Tyler looks around again, the slightest hint of panic starting to creep into her expression. "But seriously, kid. Where's your mom? She should be taking care of you, here. I don't even know your name." [01:36] "Uh... I don-" He's cut off by a high-pitched "Ryan!" from the distance. He yelps. "That's her. Um. Thanks for saving me." [01:36] He runs off a bit, then waves before he's cut off again. Wincing, he goes back to running towards the voice. [01:37] "Good." Tyler hops to her feet, makes an annoyed face, and promptly snaps her swimsuit bottom to get out the sand. That earns her a glance from a passing boy; she ignores it. "Go tell her about what happened. And don't do a stupid thing like that again, okay?" [01:38] (Bah. Must type faster. :P) [01:38] (Yes. ^_~) [01:38] Ryan probably caught that as he ran off. Evidently, his mom yelling is much more important than whatever sage advice Tyler would give him. [01:39] * Tyler rolls her eyes. If she wanted to be a lifeguard, she'd go earn a paycheck. And get breast implants. With little more than that and a sigh, she turns back to her board. [01:41] The board's lying right where she left it. Give me another perception check. [01:42] 2d6-4 [01:42] * Dicesuke throws the bones for Tyler (2d6-4) and gets 2. [01:44] As one of the waves laps onto shore by your feet, you spot a sparkle in the sand. [01:44] * Tyler grins. Cool. Someone dropped a ring or something. If it's nice, that'll be a new amp. She bends down to pick it up. [01:45] It's gold, with a large, deep blue gemstone. Looks like it's worth quite a lot of money, and even though you can't place the gem, you're pretty darned sure that's real gold. [01:46] (I was always tired of those plastic looking rings they wore. :P) [01:46] (Yes. Thank you.) [01:47] * Tyler hmms. It's not her style--a bit too cream of society--but it sure is pretty. First looking around to see if anyone's watching, she then starts to stick it in her pocket. Sadly, she left her pants down the shore, and a big wave has thoroughly soaked them. Swearing yet again, she starts down the beach to grab them, slamming the ring onto her hand for safekeeping as she does. [01:48] (*laughs*) [01:49] It doesn't fit on your ring finger, but it fits eerily perfectly onto your right index finger. And something about it feels... right, somehow. [01:52] * Tyler mutters as she drags her windsurfer behind her, scuffing it along the sand. Thank God for modern lightweight materials. [01:54] An odd feeling overcomes Tyler; it's something like being submurged in cool water, but without any fear of drowning. She feels a little lightheadedness, and then her world turns blue. [01:54] Intro session end.
