You're in the midst of the ruined remains of some old city that isn't there any more! You're at a great pair of double-doors set in an earthen wall, whis apparently is the entrance to Faydra's old stronghold. * Ada is scowling with her arms folded. So, y'know. Go boldly forth, Our Heroes! ... wow. That's a great pair of doors. * Fyril looks up at the door with wide eyes, then settles himself down a bit and looks the door over. ( Yes, is it. Not just a pair of pretty good doors, no sir. ) Should we knock? * Nebrinel hrms. "Faydra did say the door should open if we just try to open them, because she's here." * Sei is looking around for anything of interest. Fine. Open them. * Nebrinel smirks, and tries to open one of the doors! Nebrinel succeeds! The air inside, thankfully, isn't stale, and does not come blasting out. It is awful dark inside, tho. Should I get out a torch? Why bother? * Fyril looks in, and holds up a hand with a small orb of light in it. "This way's easier." * Sei slips his ring onto his finger. Because I never passed my blindfighting proficiency exa- ah, that works too. * Nebrinel smirks. "You need both hands to fight anyway. Let us proceed." * Ada walks in, a hovering orb of light appearing near her, too. She looks around. * Fyril steps further in, and surveys the area. * Ethan unholsters his glaive. "Point. You guys don't keep me around to be a source of light." * Sei follows. * Nebrinel walks in as well. Levity, yes. Food-themed inspiration, yes. Light, no. Inside the doors is a large cave. So large that a massive, ancient- looking structure of some sort looms comfortably within. There are also stalactites, some of which are beginning to coat the spires of the structure, and a small stream making it's way across the cavern. There is a huge stone bridge across the stream, which is just deep enough to be an obstruction, and like the larger structure it's made out of gray rock with beaten brass bracings and filigree. There is one other very big thing of note, and it's standing on the bridge. It's about twenty feet tall, hulking, and vaguely humanoid. It, too, appears to be made of brass. ... this is some place Faydra's got. All it needs is a bottomless pit, creepy music, and... ah, there's the large, imposing statue. * Ada shrugs, not looking particularly impressed. "What did you expect?" Castle, I guess. With walls, a moat, boiling oil... the usual. This is close enough. * Fyril looks around from place to place quickly, trying to take it all in. He looks off at the structure, then rests his eyes on the statue. * Nebrinel looks at the cave slowly. "There are as many types of places for elves to live as there are elves." Any live in a gigantic, hollowed-out peach? * Sei points to the structure across the river. "I think there's Serioli writing on that thing." * Nebrinel arches an eyebrow. "Really? Interesting." She waves to the brass thing on the bridge. "That looks to be the brass golem guardian Faydra warned of." ... we get to fight that thing? * Ethan GRINS. "Cool!" If it still works. She was unsure either way as to whether it would function. * Ada rolls her eyes. "Not cool." * Fyril looks at Ethan very, very oddly. "If you think so, you do it, and I'll wait till you're done." Hey, I'm a wandering warrior. Roaming the plains, seeking adventure and new opponents with whom to test my skills, all that sorta stuff. * Nebrinel looks amused. It's a noble calling, or something like that. ... The golem sits there. Well, stands, really. And it sounds better than "I'm a guy with a big pointy stick that wanders around hitting people." It's a noble way to find yourself smashed, at least. Just keep in mind that if you break your spine, it's going to keep hurting for a while, even if I can heal you. * Fyril shakes his head, and gestures to the statue. "Then by all means, enjoy. I try not to go up against things several hundred times my size." * Ethan chuckles. "Worry not! Despite the fact that it is many times my size, and could most likely smash me into a fine paste within seconds, I shall make sure it harms none of you! ... if it still works." * Ethan powerposes! I'll be over there by the door. * Ada snickers. "Right behind him, Sei?" I'd say you guys loose sanity points after that, but why bother? * Sei snickers. * Nebrinel stretches, then unsheathes her sword. "Speaking of weapons, which of you has Hunger, anyway?" Seriously, though... and I know that sounds VERY odd coming from me... we gotta cross that bridge eventually. Ethan. And yes, we do. So what's the plan? I walk up near the bridge, say nasty things about the golem's mother, then run away if it starts coming to life while you guys fling fiery magic death at it? * Fyril looks it over again, and shakes his head again. He looks down towards the stream under the bridge. * Nebrinel says coldly, "The first part of the plan is handing me Hunger. Then we go and see if the Golem's alive." ... you want my glaive? (YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE GLAIVE.) * Nebrinel mutters, and says, as if talking to a child, "No. The piece of Ada's weapon that she didn't want to use? Hunger?" ... oh. Right. I can never keep the weapon names straight. Seems silly to name your weapon. * Ethan reaches into his pack and pulls out Hunger. "Besides, if you're gonna name a weapon, it should have a cool name. Like Mr. Slicey." * Fyril rolls his eyes. "Your glaive has a name. It's called Pantryfiller." * Nebrinel says dryly, "I was always partial to the Gashmaster, but Plaguebringer doesn't approve." She holds out her off hand to grab Hunger. And not a very good name at that. *hands Hunger to Nebby* The golem continues to stand there. * Nebrinel weighs Hunger in her hand, and nods. "Alright. Ready to knock, Ethan?" ... Mr. Slicey. That has a nice ring to it. Huh? Oh, yeah, sure. You guys ready to cover my ass if tall, shiny and ugly over there decides to get angry? * Ada grins. "If I feel like it." The air around her warms slightly, however. ...maybe. ... my heart is warmed by your caring. * Nebrinel says, a feral grin crossing her face. "I'd pat your shoulder, but I might nick you. I'll be right behind you." * Ethan sticks his tongue out at the group, then starts to stroll towards the golem. * Fyril watches Ethan heading over with a look of some trepidation. He tenses up. * Nebrinel follows a few steps behind Ethan. Just enough so the blood won't splash onto her. * Ethan twirls his glaive as he approaches the golem. "Big sucker." When Ethan's about fifty feet away from the golem, loud churning, hissing, and clanking sounds begin to emanate from inside it. * Ada whistles and moves forward to get into a better position. ... either it ate something bad last night, or it's still working. Moments after that, a set of lights come on overhead, as well as one on either side of the doorway. ... wha? * Nebrinel exclaims, "It's active! Damnation!" * Fyril looks around quickly, and lets his light go out. He takes a couple steps back at Nebrinel's cry. * Ada runs, now. Not within striking range for the golem (hopefully), but within range for her. * Ethan falls into a ready stance. "What do you know about this thing? Can it do anything other than smash stuff?" The golem's squintly little eyes light up, to, and it takes one big, ponderous, ground-shaking step towards Ethan. It says something garbled and unintelligible. * Nebrinel backs up a few steps. "No clue! It's not like she ever fought it!" The golem takes another step, this one considerably faster, and then another. This is where you roll initiative. ^_^ Ah, no useful intel. Just like back home. d6+8 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Ethan (d6+8) and gets 9. d6+7 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Nebrinel (d6+7) and gets 10. d6+5 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Sei (d6+5) and gets 11. d6+7 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Ada (d6+7) and gets 13. d6+5 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Fyril (d6+5) and gets 10. Order: Golem, Ada, Sei, Nebbu, Fyril, Ethan. ( Ah, just like the old Ethan. I go last. =P ) Er, switch Ada and Golem, actually. So, Ada Golem Sei Nebby Fyril Ethan. Go, Ada! * Ada grumbles something about incompetent Elven sorceresses and presses her palm against the ground as she looks to one of the golem's feet. "Fissure!" 2d6-3 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Ada (2d6-3) and gets 7. The ground beneath the golem splits open, and the golem falls through! Unfortunately, the ground beneath the golem was the bridge, which begins crumbling and falling into the river. * Ada doesn't seem to care. Why should she, exactly? * Nebrinel says, "Well, that was efficient. Guardians on bridges, really." She eyes the fortress (how long was that bridge?) * Fyril relaxes a bit as the golem falls down. He doesn't seem all that perturbed about the crumbling, either. * Sei smiles. "That was direct." The golem spends a while climbing out of the river, which doesn't seem very hard for it. It is huge, after all. ... I think it's mad now. The golem releases a big hiss of steam, which may back up Ethan's theory. * Ada eyes the golem. "Can it get mad?" Sei's turn! * Sei casts Air Valm, covering everyone within attack range of the golem. Nebby's turn! * Nebrinel slashes both of her swords in front of her, and screams, "Void!" Two rippling waves streak from her swords at the golem. ( Roll. o/~ ) 2d6-4 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Nebrinel (2d6-4) and gets 4. 2d6-4 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Nebrinel (2d6-4) and gets 1. (That must sting.) (Hoo, those were so successes. @_@) Both waves o' force slam into the golem's chest area, blasting armor away to reveal... more armor. * Nebrinel growls, "Wonderful." * Ada rolls her eyes. Fyril, go! * Fyril goes about the exact opposite way, and attempts to put as much space between him and the fight as possible. On foot, anyway. Fyril bravely runs away! Ethan, go! ( Is the golem all the way out of the river bed, or still getting out? ) ( It's out. ) ( Okie. ) ( It's actually moved about ten feet away from the bed of the river. ) * Ethan eyes the rips in the golem's chest armor, which are, alas, a bit out of his jumping range. Instead, he charges foward, swinging twice and trying to cut through the golem's right leg. 2d6-3 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Ethan (2d6-3) and gets -1, a CRITICAL SUCCESS!!! "I love the smell of a crit in the morning." 2d6-3 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Ethan (2d6-3) and gets 4. ( ^_^ ) Ethan damn near cuts the leg off, Pantryfiller gouging through thick slabs of armor that may or may not be brass. The inner working of the leg are exposed, now. The golem seems to acquire a limp, after that. Ada's turn! * Ada glares up at the cavern ceiling and mutters something unflattering. She brings back her hand and brings it in a sweeping motion towards the open section of the golem's leg. "Chill Needles." 2d6-3 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Ada (2d6-3) and gets 4. The golem gets a leg full of ice! And slows more! The golem still lumber forward and swings its fist for Ethan, tho. Ethan needs a defense roll! 2d6-2 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Ethan (2d6-2) and gets 7. ( Nope. ) Ethan gets smacked, and goes sailing back about twenty feet. (-15 damage from the Air Valm.) Sei's turn! * Ethan gets up. "... what a wuss! I've been hit harder than that by my grandma!" * Sei maintains his Air Valm spell. * Ada watches Ethan stand. "Must be some grandmother." ... who could break granite blocks with her mace, but still. Go, Nebby! * Nebrinel grits her teeth, and swings her swords again, this time causing a slow-moving pulse of lightning to fly towards the already damaged leg. 2d6-5 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Nebrinel (2d6-5) and gets 5. (Made it. ^^;) The bolt slams into the leg, scattering the ice and tearing the leg off. Fyril's turn! (Um... is it still standing, or did it fall over without the leg? ^^;) ( Doesn't it fall? Or is it hopping around? =P ) ( It has remarkable balance. ) * Nebrinel is looking kinda tired, holding her blades at her side. * Fyril stops and turns at the sound of the leg coming off, and hesitates, turning to watch (and holds). Ethan, go! * Ethan charges back into the fray, hacking at the *other* leg. "Look out, everyone! TIIIIIMBER!" 2d6-3 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Ethan (2d6-3) and gets 3. 2d6-3 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Ethan (2d6-3) and gets 5. ( made both ) Ethan hacks lots of armor off, again. Not quite as much as last time, tho. Ada's turn! * Ada scowls. Enough of this. She grabs the pendant with one hand and starts chanting quietly. The golem swings at Ethan again; this time with both fists. Ethan needs two defense rolls. 2d6-2 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Ethan (2d6-2) and gets 4. 2d6-2 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Ethan (2d6-2) and gets 7. ( Made one, didn't the second ) Ethan gets smacked again! He doesn't go flying this time, tho, and afterwards, the golem almost topples over. * Ethan gets knocked back a few steps from the force of the blow. "... a little bit better. Kinda felt that one. Ow." Nebby's turn! * Nebrinel yells again, and lets loose another pulse towards the thing's other leg. 2d6-5 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Nebrinel (2d6-5) and gets -3, a CRITICAL SUCCESS!!! "A WINNER IS YOU!" (... Well.) The leg is sheared right off, and the golem totters forward and backwards, before settling on backwards and falling into the water. There's some strange sounds, some bright flashes, and then the golem stops moving. ... I'd say that it's on its last legs now. * Ada stops chanting, but the heat still builds around her. She eyes Ethan. "Do you want me to use my spell on you instead?" * Nebrinel looks back to Ada, very tiredly, and frowns. "Ethan, I'd recommend a no on that one. A big no." * Sei casts Cure on Ethan. Not particularly, no... thanks, Sei. No problem. Thing really didn't hit all that hard... I'm surprised. * Ada grins, and the heat fades. Unlike Nebrinel, she doesn't look tired at all.
