[ We find Our Heros back at the Angry Porcupine. It is another bright and beautiful morning! Except that it's dark and cloudy with occasional showers. ] (Aah! We lost ANOTHER day! ;___;) (Ooh, and it's a wet day, too.) * Sei mumbles, "Ah, nice rain. ...rain. ...[coffee]." * Ada isn't downstairs yet. Probably sleeping in. She does that a lot. [ Coffee is brought to Sei in short order by one of his... uh, ladyfriends. Right. And I might as well say SESSION START, even tho y'all are already going. ;P ) Ah, thank you. ^_^ * Ethan is outside in the rain, glaive in hand, going through morning katas. * Nebrinel is inside, eating one last light breakfast before starting on the road 'gain. * Ethan mutters to himself as he spins and swings his glaive. "Goin' after a tough bastard now... gotta be ready... gotta be ready..." ( Hm. Did you guys ever decide where you were headed next? ^^; ) (We were going to 'follow the guy'.) * Fyril walks into the dining area, and sits down next to Nebrinel, grinning. He gestures to a waitress to bring over another of what Nebrinel is having. (Um...I dunno. Did we?) (Yes, we did. We were going to follow the guy. ^^;) (Ah. ^_^) ( Okie. Who has any sort of Tracking skill? ) (Not me. But I can try to guess! :P) (Oh, I'm not even downstairs yet, anyhow. ^^) (Wilderness Survival.) (I've got urban tracking. 3 levels of it, no less.) * Nebrinel looks over at Fyril. "Well, that just makes Ada, and we can get going." * Sei nods. ...who's going to volunteer to wake her up? *katakatakata* * Fyril looks around for his food to show up, and nods at Sei. "I'm not going to. I'm going to be eating soon." ...I suppose I could cast Ray Wing in a window-related emergency, but not with broken ribs and head trauma. * Nebrinel rolls her eyes, eats some more of her food. "Well, if Ethan doesn't finish soon, I'll take care of it. I've handled worse." Thank you. * Ethan winds up his katas, and wanders back in, grabbing a towel he left for himself to dry off. "Hey." Ethan. Pal. ^_^ ( Test me out. ) (... Sei is smiling.) ( Try again, Fyr... Sei is smiling. No good can come of this. ) (It's obvious he wants something. ^_~) 2d6-3 * Atom rolls for Fyril (2d6-3) and gets 4. (. o O (Sei smiles at women, Sei smiles at Ethan... Sei wants Ethan!) * Ethan looks up. "Yeah?" (...) (*cracks up*) It seems that Ada isn't up yet. ... does she have a window in her room? ...I think so, yes. Cool. I'll go wake her up. Ah. Thanks. * Ethan wanders upstairs, still drying himself off. * Sei mutters, "That was easy." * Nebrinel eats some more. "Well, it's not like he can be hurt or anything." * Fyril rolls his eyes and nods. "Ada could knock him into next week, and he'd just get up laughing." * Sei nods. * Nebrinel yawns. "Exactly." * Ethan looks down from the top of the stairs. "I am mighty! YOSH!" *walks back up* ... * Nebrinel taps her finger, and says lightly, "5... 4... 3..." * Fyril sighs loudly, and waits for his food to arrive some more. "Man, the service here isn't all that good, is it." Oh, just preoccupied, I'm sure. * Nebrinel eyes Sei. "Yeah. I'm sure." Cooking does take some time to do properly. * Fyril looks slyly at Sei. "I know how long a breakfast takes to cook. I've made my share of them. A place like this, it should be here by now. It must be something else." Hmm. * Nebrinel huhms. "I hear a distinct lack of blunt force trauma. A shame." * Fyril shrugs. "It'll come. If he doesn't do it waking her up, it'll be something he does after." * Nebrinel looks towards the kitchen, and back. "Good point." * Sei nods. Food comes out of the kitchen. Some of it is delivered to Fyril! Won't he be so happy? * Fyril looks so happy! He starts eating, and smiles after the first swallow. "Ah. Well, at least it's pretty good. A bit dry, though." (Be right back, keep going. ^_^) * Nebrinel shakes her head and smiles a little. "You food connisour, you." * Fyril smiles confidently at Nebrinel. "Yeah, I am. I still think the cook made a mistake in not letting me help." * Nebrinel chuckles. "Well, we'll be back on the road in a bit, and then you can impress us all with your food some more." She eats some food while she says this. * Fyril nods enthusiastically. "Yeah, I will. I picked up some good ingredients while I was out yesterday." His eyes sparkle. * Sei continues drinking coffee. * Nebrinel grins, and finishes her plate. "I can't wait." She eyes the stairs. "Do you think we should check if they're dead?" * Fyril looks towards the stairs. "Ada usually hits him loudly. We should have heard something, I think. * Sei nods. She must really be asleep. * Nebrinel checks her pack, which she already had packed and ready on the floor, again. "Or was already been awake." * Fyril sips from a glass of juice, and nods. "Maybe she was. But then why not come down? Especially when Ethan showed up?" * Sei stares pointedly at his coffee. 2d6-3 * Nebrinel makes a slightly distasteful face. * Atom rolls for Ada (2d6-3) and gets 3. * Nebrinel nods with satisfaction. "Good. All ready to go, as always." * Fyril looks down at his side, where his satchel is sitting. "Yeah." He sighs. "Not that I won't miss having somewhere soft to sleep, though." * Sei nods. "I'm all set." Suddenly, there is the sound of a strong wind blowing, followed by a loud *thump*. ... I'm afraid to ask. * Fyril nods in a satisfied manner. "Ah, there we go. I was beginning to worry." * Sei gets up and looks around. * Nebrinel quirks an eyebrow. "Well. I'm almost glad he finished his katas." Everyone else in the common room looks briefly skyward, and most of the people then go on to discussions about the weather. * Nebrinel strokes the hilt of her sword again, and looks thoughtful. * Fyril finishes up his food, and leans back, looking towards the stairs, then at Nebrinel. ...perhaps I'd better go and check. * Sei sighs, picks up his backpack, and heads upstairs. * Fyril watches Sei walk off, and turns to Nebrinel, grinning slightly. "So, you do much yesterday?" * Nebrinel chuckles, and lowers her voice a bit. "Went back to Smallcliff's place, looked around a bit more to satisfy their curiosity." * Sei wanders back down the stairs, and sits down calmly. * Fyril nods. "Find anything else interesting up there?" Well, I commented on Ada's technique. Quite effective, really. * Fyril sighs, and shakes his head. "Well, he went up there knowing what would happen, so he deserved it." * Nebrinel smiles wryly. "And I thought she was trying to be discrete about certain things. Oh well." * Fyril rolls his eyes. "With Ethan, there's no such thing as discretion." * Sei nods. * Ada walks down the stairs, dressed for travel. She notices Sei and smiles nastily, and makes sure she has a seat next to him. "Morning." * Sei smiles. "Good morning." Morning. * Nebrinel quirks an eyebrow, but says nothing, instead turning back to Fyril. "We did find a shrine to Barlen (nonthreatening education/agriculture god), and Sei absorbed the library, but beyond that there was not much more to be found." * Ethan wanders down the stairs, sits down, and munches on a donut. * Fyril nods contemplatively, and looks over Ethan for damage. "A weird researcher like him would have a shrine to Barlen." * Ada orders something small and quick. * Fyril looks over the others, and smiles lazily. "So, I bet you were wondering where I went yesterday." Yes, indeed. (*smacks Sei*) (Ow.) * Nebrinel stays silent, instead touching the hilt of her sword again. * Fyril leans forward across the table, and speaks in a low tone. "Well, I figured I'd look into finding out about where the guy that stabbed me ended up." Heaven? * Sei nods... * Fyril shakes his head. "We didn't kill him. He just ran off, with the piece we were looking for. So, we need to find him, right?" No, no, I meant... nevermind. Indeed we do. Did you have any luck? * Fyril grins. "So, I went around town yesterday, and after a few hours, I found out where he was staying." He shakes his head. "He's really good at hiding his tracks." * Sei nods... * Nebrinel says, "So, we know where he went? And he didn't even leave town? Who's he waiting to meet, then?" So can we go hit him repeatedly? * Ethan grins. And cautiously. * Fyril runs a hand through his hair. "He's staying in a bar, Malak's Hole in the Wall. Not the classiest place, but they keep a couple of rooms around for really drunk customers who can't go home. He took one of them." * Ada idly munches on the muffin that was brought. "Convenient." Hmm... Low key, too. Never really paid attention to the Infiltration and Subtle Arts professor, but the guy sounds like he knows what he's doing. * Fyril nods, and smiles cutely. "But I'm better. I went and checked the place out, to see what it was like. The rooms aren't huge, and other than the main door, there's not an easy way in. The rooms have windows, but they're small, a foot tall by three wide. Hinged on top, no locks." * Ada nods thoughtfully. Hmm... * Nebrinel smiles ferally. "Well... what are we waiting for, then? Either we watch him to see who he meets with, or we just take the piece back." ... also means there's no easy way out. Well, it might be possible to get out through that window... Which is good. * Fyril leans back. "There's that. And I can't tell if he's still there. I checked around a bit, but no one could tell for sure." Not if we adopt the Schleiffen Plan. Oh? * Ethan gets a serious look on his face for once. "Pincer maneuver. One of the most basic military strategies, and one of the best. Two people go up to the window, do something to cause him to try to get out of the inn. Throw a spell, shoot a bow, something. Other three wait at the only entrance, engage him, hold him 'till the first two arrive, and overwhelm him. * Sei smiles. "Hmm..." Public, Ethan. SO we do it at night. Even better. * Fyril shakes his head. "Anyone going through that window is going to be pretty exposed if the guy is in there and waiting." It doesn't have to be a person who goes through the window... * Nebrinel says idly, "Not if the room isn't there anymore." * Ada snickers. That works, too. * Sei rummages in his backpack and grins, holding up a small vial. "If someone were to throw this into his room, it would give him a pressing reason to depart." * Fyril looks at the vial contemplatively. "What is it?" A fairly mild stink potion. I never said go IN through the window. Fly up, throw something through the window to make him try to get out of the building. * Sei nods. * Nebrinel frowns. "If we don't flush him fast, he'll have time to plan. I do not think a stink potion will be nearly enough." Hmm. Well, I don't want to set anything on fire... * Ada thinks. * Fyril grins. "I could freeze the room. That won't stop him, necessarily, but it won't blow the place up, and it could make him run." Is there anything we could do that wouldn't be an obvious attack? Put, hmm, some sort of dangerous animal in the room... ... hey, Ada. Could you use that wind thingee to propel objects? Like, use the wind to send lots of rocks flying through a window? That would make him run all the way out of the inn? He'd kill an animal. * Ada frowns. "Yes, I think I can do that." (It's in precisely this kind of situation that you should call Rent-a- Basilisk.) We either attack him, attack the inn, or offer him a job. Nothing else is gonna get him outside that inn until it's time to deliver. Though really, Ethan, if we're going to propel objects we'd might as well just blow the window in. Another type of distraction would do it, but one of us would have to be extremely persuasive. * Nebrinel shrugs. "He hasn't seen any of you three yet, if that's what you mean." * Fyril sighs. "I'm really persuasive, but he already knows what I look like." Hmm...okay, then that wouldn't work. * Sei shrugs. We could always wait for him to come out to meet his contact, follow him, find out who he's working for, then dogpile him. I'd imagine he'd notice us, though. Okay. Wait for him to walk out of the inn, then IMMEDIATELY dogpile him. Hmm... * Fyril nods, and leans back. "Maybe it would be easier to find him if we really knew he was there. Send someone in just to check on the room, and act very drunk, like a normal person who uses the space." * Sei nods. Right... but who among us can act like they're really, really wasted? * Fyril looks meaningfully at Ethan. * Ethan strokes his goatee, pondering... * Ada shrugs. "I'll do it." * Ethan starts to say something, but stops. "I was gonna volunteer, but you're undoubtably a bit better at being subtle than I am." * Nebrinel raises an eyebrow. "Well. If Ada's that determined to act drunk, far be it from me to stop her." If you want the job, Ethan, I won't stop you. Nah. Like I've said, subtlety and subterfuge isn't my game. * Ada grins at Nebrinel. "I haven't gotten to do this in a while." * Nebrinel says dully, "I am sure it is a pity." Of course. * Ada picks at her shirt. "I need to wear something else, though. And get some alcohol. Hrm." 'sides, I'd need to meditate before the battle, to get in touch with my inner asskicker. I have some, but not the kind that I'd recommend drinking. * Nebrinel grins. "Well, that second part's easy. Leavenhide is well stocked." * Ada laughs. As for the first, well. It's time to go shopping. * Sei nods. [ SESSION END! ]
