[It's another lovely, sunny day at the Angry Porcupine. Yesterday, many things happened, and most of them have even been roleplayed so far!] [But this is another day. Not yesterday. Presumably, you'll be heading out to the home of the wizard Friyas, but one never knows.] [The time is currently three hours before noon, which puts it at twelve.] [Session Start, yo.] (You have initiative, Bob! Roll for attack.) [Oh, and you're all presumably together in the common room. Or on the porch. But again, that isn't necessarily the case. ;P] * Sei sips from a large cup of coffee. * Ethan FEEDS. * Ada is still sleeping, probably. She seemed really tired by the end of yesterday. * Fyril sits back against the wall of the inn. He fidgets with Jordan, who's resting on his lap. * Nebrinel is leaning on the table, having eaten her food. She's looking over at Fyril and Jordan idly. * Ethan downs a few chicken drumsticks. "Ah, now that's a good breakfast." * Fyril rolls his eyes. "It's not really breakfast this late in the day." Jordan says, "Unless you're a glutton, and you never stopped eating the first time." Hey, I resemble that remark! * Nebrinel opens her mouth to say something, but stops when Fyril responds, instead chuckling idly. * Nebrinel yawns, and peers into the Inn. "I'm all for well-restedness, but I have to wonder just why Ada is still sleeping." * Ethan furrows his brow. "She sleeps the sleep of those who are really sleepy. Who want to sleep. 'cause they're, y'know, sleepy and all." ...well put. * Nebrinel deadpands, "You get more and more eloquent each day, Ethan." * Fyril nods sarcastically. "I'd never have gotten the idea from the first four sleeps that she was tired." People say actions speak louder than words. I say that's becuase they're not speaking loud enough. ^_^ ... wonderful homey logic. * Fyril smiles slightly. Ethan's plate says, "Don't put anything more on me. Go see if Ada's up. You've worn me out." * Nebrinel chuckles, and then frowns as she takes one of her hands, and strokes Plage Bringer. * Ethan looks down at his plate. "Wow! A secret message... from my breakfast!" * Ethan wanders off to find Ada. ... * Nebrinel shakes her head. "Brilliant. We should make his weapon start talking to him, and see how long it takes for someone to get the right idea." * Fyril smiles more broadly, and turns to Nebrinel. "The practice was worth it, though. He never realizes." His smile falters as he sees her expression. * Ethan pokes his head back out. "I may be silly, but I'm not stupid. Be right back with Ada, if she doesn't blow me up for waking her up." * Sei sweatdrops. * Nebrinel rolls her eyes, flicks the hilt of her sword in irritation, and looks over at Sei. "So, how did life go last night? Manage to take advantage of any young elven girls?" * Sei coughs. "I'm sure I don't know what you mean." ( "Take advantage? Nah, I just had sex with her." ) * Nebrinel grins slightly. "I'm sure you do. So, where'd you two go?" * Sei smiles. "There happened to be some actors in town yesterday, so we went to see the play. It was quite good." * Nebrinel nods. "Aah. Any..." she waves her hand idly, "specific play?" I hadn't heard of it before...it was a political drama, set a few thousand years ago. It was, surprisingly, not dull at all...quite comedic, in fact. Comedy and drama rarely work well together, but they pulled it off quite well. * Nebrinel quirks an eyebrow. "And after that?" (Details, Sai, details!) * Fyril shifts Jordan on his knee. "And is the troupe still in town? That'd be something to do tonight, if we get stuck here again." It wasn't too late, so we had a small meal at another cafe near there. I believe they are, yes. * Nebrinel chuckles. "Well, it at least sounds like you showed the poor girl a good time." (You didn't ask "And after that?" again. :P) * Sei smiles. * Fyril looks guiltily over at Nebrinel. "Would you have wanted to go? We could've. I should've asked at the market." * Nebrinel chuckles, and looks over at Fryil. "Don't worry about it. If the town is still standing tonight, maybe we can go then." She frowns. "This is the most time I've ever had to idle without at least doing something." * Fyril smiles again, and offers Jordan to Nebrinel. "You can give it a try, if you want. I'll teach you. Least I can do, considering you've been trying to teach me." * Nebrinel looks at the dummy in honest surprise. * Fyril gestures with him towards Nebrinel. "He doesn't bite, really." Jordan says, "Well, not without difficulty. He just holds me wrong for it." * Nebrinel quirks an eyebrow at Fyril, and shrugs. "Why not? I assume you want me to do something besides magical voice projection?" * Fyril nods decisively. "That's cheating. You have to do it the right way." (Strange.) * Nebrinel mock pouts. "Alright, alright." * Fyril takes his hands out of Jordan's back and turns him to Nebrinel. "Go on, take him." * Nebrinel reaches out her right hand and grabs ahold of Jordan, shoving her hand in the back. She turns it to herself, and flicks some of the limbs around. "So..." The controls are pretty fine, so you can get good movement. Do you know how the voicing works? * Nebrinel frowns at it, and tries to work the mouth. "If you mean how to throw my voice, I never had the time to learn." * Fyril cocks his head. "All right. Have you ever tried to speak without moving your mouth?" * Nebrinel quirks a grin, and a voice pops out besides Fryil's ear. "I thought we covered that." * Fyril laughs. "Right. Without magic, though?" * Nebrinel waves her hand. "Not for any appreciable amount of time, no, although I've certaintly tried before, if yesterday was any indication." * Fyril nods. "Well, you can make most sounds without moving your mouth at all. Only the ones with your lips need to be moved back into your mouth." * Fyril points towards his lips. "The key is to stop the air flow in the same sort of way without doing up front." He closes his mouth, and says without moving it, "Like this, see?" * Nebrinel huhms, and chuckles. "No, I didn't see. That's the whole point, is it not?" * Fyril grins, and nods. "Yeah. It's hard to show exactly how you do it. Do you have the idea, though?" Sort of. 2d6-1 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Nebrinel (2d6-1) and gets 5. * Nebrinel tries to speak without moving her lips, and what comes out sounds less like speech, and more like, "E wunnr if ths ll wrk. Ges not." * Sei smiles. * Sei pulls out a notebook and scrawls a few things. * Fyril grins. "Not bad for a first try, though." 2d6-1 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Nebrinel (2d6-1) and gets 6. * Nebrinel snorts. "I sund lke a"-- Nebrinel suddenly hiccups and the last part comes out poorly, with her moving her mouth. "baby... bleh." * Sei smiles. "As Fyril said, though, not bad. It takes a ton of practice." * Fyril shakes his head. "No, really, it's good! It's a hard skill to master." He assumes a serious look. "OK, you're losing some of your vowels. Try to move the sounds farther back." * Nebrinel mutters, "And you people say magic is esoteric." 2d6-1 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Nebrinel (2d6-1) and gets 2. * Nebrinel tries again, once again not moving her mouth. "I mean serisly... movang sounds farther back. Thas slly." * Fyril nods happily. "See? Sounds better already, right?" * Nebrinel mms and rubs her throat. "If you say so." * Fyril turns to Sei. "Right?" * Sei nods. "That was extremely good." * Sei blinks and makes one more note. * Fyril turns back and beams at Nebrinel. "See? Told ya. Bet you've got a lot of natural talent for this." * Nebrinel grins slightly. "Well, of course. I'm a natural at everything." 2d6-1 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Nebrinel (2d6-1) and gets 3. * Fyril laughs. "I won't doubt it." He tries to look more serious again. "Try something else, so I can see what else you should work at." * Nebrinel puts her lips together again. "Probbly has sumthing to do wit lots of prformang. For wotever reson." * Fyril nods again. "Good! I can see that, yeah. Some disciplines of acting use techniques like these for stage whispering. Or to surprise the audience." OK. Try saying something with lots of th's. You seem to be missing those, for the most part, but if you focus on them, you'll get it. 2d6-1 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Nebrinel (2d6-1) and gets 7. * Nebrinel frowns and tries to say some th-words. "Thu wrds are smting tht I can quite get. The, tem, th--" her mouth comes open, "Thrag." * Fyril leans forward a bit. "You got a few more of them that time. It's hard to control the reflex to part your teeth for the sound." * Nebrinel mutters, "Harder not to just open my lips." * Fyril nods. "It is. Want me to show you a little trick I know from when I was a beginner?" * Nebrinel shrugs. "That would be the whole point of teaching, would it not?" * Fyril nods, and leans to Nebrinel, bringing his hand in under her chin gently. "Just a little reminder. It does help." * Nebrinel quirks an smile. "Mm-hmm." 2d6-1 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Nebrinel (2d6-1) and gets 6. * Nebrinel tries to speak without moving her lips again. "I thnk ths wonde do much... I wunner wher Etan--" she pauses, and swallows, "--Ethn went." * Fyril grins. "See! You can do it! You got all of them that time. You just need to concentrate." He looks back towards the inn. "I do wonder where Ethan is, though." Hm. Suddenly, Ethan crashes to the ground outside a window near your table. 2d6 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Ethan (2d6) and gets 8. o_O * Sei stands up and hurries over to him. "Um, are you all right?" * Fyril yanks his hand away from Nebrinel's face and bounces in shock, staring towards Ethan. "What was that?" * Nebrinel jumps very slightly, but only Fyril would be able to tell, since he's touching her, and looks towards him. "The hell?" ... knew I shouldn't have tickled her awake... ow. ... * Nebrinel rolls her eyes. "Make a note, Ethan. If you ever get the idea to tickle ME awake? Consider whether you'd like to keep your spine, and ask the question again." * Fyril laughs. "You tried to tickle Ada awake?" He cracks up. ... ow. Pain. The sacrifices I make to get a reaction out of you people. * Sei sighs and casts a spell. * Ada walks into the room, yawning. "Ethan, you idiot." * Ethan grins and winces at the same time. It was... a bit higher than I anticipated. Nothing broken, though! * Fyril slows his laughing down with difficulty. "Good gods, I can't believe even you would try that." Jumping out a window to see the looks on your faces? Of course I'd try that! ^_^ * Ada snickers. ... ah, that's better. Thanks a million, Sei. A billion, even. A google thanks. * Fyril settles down, a huge grin still on his face as he turns to back to Nebrinel. "Should we stop for now?" Not a problem. ...oh, and what Nebrinel said? That goes for me, too. * Nebrinel looks at Jordan, and shrugs. "Ada can talk while she eats, and the whole point of this is to talk, right?" I'm not stupid enough to try to tickle any of you awake. Angry mages are the last thing I need in my life. * Ethan stretches. "Wow, good as new. Wish I had this when I jumped off that roof as a kid." * Ada has a seat at the table. "If he actually tried to tickle me awake, Sei wouldn't have anything to heal." * Nebrinel chuckles at Ada's response. "My respect for you goes up every day." * Ethan nods sagely. "I woke Ada up using ancient sleep-ending techniques passed down from the great masters for generations." * Ada rolls her eyes. Shouting? * Fyril rolls his eyes. "What, did you try to pull her blanket away?" No! ... well, kinda. First I tried gentle prodding. Then I waved a cookie under her nose. Neither worked. I got her up by yelling "Hey! Look! A Great Weapon!" And then I knocked him over. * Ada yawns again. And then I jumped out the window. All in all, a fun morning. ^_^ * Fyril sighs. "You really jumped out the window on purpose?" Yup. * Nebrinel shrugs. "Fyril, shall we continue? Ada, did you ever get in contact with your friend?" * Ada nods. "I spoke with Morrolan last night." Friyas is a teleportation expert. If he sees us coming, we probably won't defeat him. Bargaining for his piece is going to be difficult, as I'm not sure what we can offer him, unless it's a piece that doesn't agree with him. * Fyril nods. "Right." He leans back over and rests his hand under Nebrinel's jaw again. "OK, one more time through the th's." He turns back to Ada. "If it did, why would he keep it?" 2d6-1 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Nebrinel (2d6-1) and gets 9. Hmmm. ( "He often goes by the aliases 'Tellah Porter', 'I. M. Outtaere', 'C. U. Lader'..." ) * Ada shrugs. "It *is* a piece to a Great Weapon. It has power, and holding onto that power is important, if only for trade." Even if he doesn't want it, someone else might? * Ada nods. * Fyril nods. "All right. But if he really doesn't want it, wouldn't he actively shop it?" So we have to do this stealthy? Great! I'm an expert in stealth! *powerpose* You can't really actively sell a piece of a Great Weapon... (eBay!) * Ada eyes Ethan. ... okay, I'm not an expert in stealth. But I know how to penetrate a castle's non-magical defenses. * Nebrinel tries to keep her lips still as she talks. "Evryon wans a Gret Wepn, but nobdy wants oter peple to hav on. Thy are stll ilegl, arn't t--" she suddenly coughs, and snorts. "They, even." * Fyril nods. "So, he'd want to keep it even if it bothered him, since he wouldn't want anyone else to have it. Would he want to keep it near him, though?" * Ada blinks at Nebrinel, then nods. * Fyril turns back to Nebrinel. "Good! Got all the th's in there. Now, try some b's and p's." 2d6-1 * Dicesuke throws the bones for Nebrinel (2d6-1) and gets 3. Hey, Fyril, isn't this your cue to make a joke about how we have two dummies in the group? ^_^ * Nebrinel mutters, and tries again. "We culd pse as students, he wod robavly lov that. But tat wuld take a while. Ben pan ig bacn." * Ada thwaps Ethan on the back of the head. "You, Fyril, and Sei could pose as students, at least." * Nebrinel opens her mouth briefly. "Yeah. Humans wouldn't fly at this. And it would take a while." Assuming he wanted them, anyway. Right. We don't even know about that. ... ow. * Fyril gives Ethan a puzzled look before turning back to Nebrinel. "Did you find out anything about what kind of food he likes?" Boring stuff. Nothing special. Although someone else was asking about him. Oh? Hmm. Anything about - oh? Hmmm. So getting in as his new cooking staff might be hard. Even with recommendations. * Nebrinel says, "Clean shaven human in grey. Supposedly mean." This bodes...poorly. (Gong!) * Fyril moves his hand down off Nebrinel's jaw, and shakes his head. "Just because someone was asking doesn't mean they want what we want. I bet Friyas has a lot of stuff worth stealing." A human, though? This far north? Hey, I'm here. * Sei grins. "I mean, besides us." * Nebrinel shrugs. "He already went to the place, supposedly." Assuming my bought information was accurate. * Ada rubs at her cheek and nods. I can think of one fairly easy way to get to him, and I don't know how one could inquire about the necessary information. * Nebrinel shrugs. "I'm at a loss. Unless we want to assume he doesn't carry it on him. Then we can just attack him and drive him off while Fyril goes to get the thing." * Sei nods. * Fyril nods at that. "Why assume it's on him? If he doesn't like it, I'd put it somewhere nice and safe." He grins lazily and his eyes sparkle. "Safe from most people, anwyay." * Ada chuckles. We could just walk up to the front door and inquire. It'd probably be a good idea to have someone going after it at the same time, though. * Nebrinel cracks her neck. "I mean, if it's something he would be willing to trade, he'd have to be willing to listen to offers." * Ada nods. * Fyril shakes his head. "That's true, but it only works so long as you don't make him go get it." Well, what do we have to trade, exactly? I don't exactly have a wealth of esoteric research to give him. * Nebrinel eyes Ada. "Someone might be able to find some nuggets of information." I could offer to entertain him with a stunning song-and-dance routine. I don't have much he'd be interested in, I think. * Ada stifles a yawn. "Mmm. Well, I could try to teach you what I know, to pass on to him... I don't know what he would be interested, then." I'm pretty sure he knows more about his chosen field than I could give him. * Fyril looks askance at Ethan. "If he was interested in entertainment, that might not be a bad idea. Ada goes and sings while I break in and get it." * Nebrinel eyes Ada. "How about a new field, then? I am certain you have at least one older friend with quite a bit of knowledge." * Ada muses. "I suppose so. I don't want to ask my Lady unless absolutely necessary." She looks over at Fyril. "And if I can distract him through entertainment, I'll be more than happy to do so." * Fyril nods brightly. "It's worth a try. Who doesn't want to be serenaded? Especially after a hard day of research." * Nebrinel deadpans, "You'd be surprised." And I can... either go along with Fyril or sit quietly while Ada performs, right? * Fyril blows out a breath. "Well, do we have a better idea? We have to trade on something, and entertainment we can do." He cocks his head. "Unless you want to try bluffing him." I might want to try and negotiate through the front door first. Then, if that fails, maybe Sei, Ada, and Ethan can try the fooling technique while we try to find it. * Ada thinks that over. "Sounds like a good idea to me." * Sei nods. * Fyril nods. "And I'd be breaking in while you tried to negotiate?" * Nebrinel huhms. "Trying to break in twice is pushing it. Perhaps I can at least get some information, like where it is. Maybe we'll get lucky." So, you try to find where it is from him, then they entertain him while we break in and steal it? * Nebrinel eyes Fyril. "Although... " * Fyril looks at Nebrinel. "What? I do get to steal it, right?" * Nebrinel huhms... "You might be able to play a servant, and do some information gathering of your own." * Nebrinel frowns, and looks at everyone else. "Does that make sense for you, then? Fyril and I try to bluff through, and if that does not work, break in while you all distract him?" * Fyril blinks. "You think he'd hire me?" It works for me, yes. Better than the ol' "Frenzied Charge At The Castle Walls" * Nebrinel shrugs. "Maybe, but I was thinking you could play as my servant, Fyril." * Fyril nods. "Right. I can do that. No one ever notices the servants." * Nebrinel chuckles. "Exactly." She frowns. "That means I'll have to play a noble." She touches her face. "Not so easy, perhaps. Maybe you should try instead, Sei." * Sei smiles. "With great difficulty." Probably not. Then I guess I'm the best choice. Alright, then. * Fyril nods. "Good. So we're set. When do we want to try it?" He runs a hand through his hair. Soon. Today, perhaps? Yes, probably today. * Fyril nods eagerly. "Today's good. We should go take a look at the place. Y'know, get a feel for what it looks like. But that won't take long." His eyes sparkle again. * Nebrinel shakes her head. "You and your casing. You enjoy your work a frightening amount, Fyril." * Ada snickers. * Fyril turns and looks happily at Nebrinel. "It's not work. That's why." I can help with that part. Like I said, I was trained to be able to get into a castle and hit people repeatedly with my large stick. * Fyril nods. "All right. If it's a castle, it'll go much faster with a few people checking it out." I have some experience sneaking through castles as well, for that matter. * Nebrinel chuckles. "Amazing. You'd almost think we should just go right after it." If we have no idea where it is in a large castle, and nothing to distract him, we might not find it, though. We're better off finding out more first. Agreed. Which is why I had better start getting in a noble sort of mood. Mmm. This'll be interesting. It'd be a lot easier with an army. * Fyril nods. "And I'd better start getting servile." It'd be a lot noisier, too. (Not with a ninja army.) (Speak not of the ninja.) (Aww, why not? ;_;) (Give me a ninja army, and I'll use it. ^^) * Nebrinel yawns, and looks at her cape. "I should get the silk one. It'd probably help." * Ethan grins. "With the right army, it is. I'm not specially trained for stealth, but I knew some people back home that could stand on your head and you wouldn't even notice, they were so good." Likely, yes. If you need clothes to look the part... * Ada considers, then shrugs. "I'll see what I can do." * Fyril looks himself over. "I'd say I should change, but I don't have anything to change into that's not like this." * Nebrinel chuckles. "I probably will. I've been travelling for years, I know I don't have what I'll need." * Ada hmms and nods. I'm not exactly dressed like an entertainer... Hey, wouldn't the fact that I'm carrying a Great Weapon tip him off that I'm not a travelling jester or something? * Nebrinel eyes Ethan suspiciously. "Which is why you won't have it on." c.c; * Fyril shrugs. "Right. You don't have to carry it everywhere. And without it, you look enough like an entertainer to pass." * Ethan nods. "True. All good male entertainers have goatees, after all." * Fyril sighs. "No, but they do look like they travel a lot." Ah, then you must be referring to my manly musc- no, wait, I have no manly muscles... My rugged, well-travelled good loo- no, wait, none of those either... Which is why you look like an entertainer, Ethan. Just leave the glaive behind. [END SESSION.]
