[Wednesday, August 25, 2004.] [It's the eighth period! That's the last one of the day! School's almost over! Krista may be devastated, but I bet nobody else minds.] [You're in art class along with the other students who are taking... art... yeah. The teacher for this class is one Mrs. Seville, an overweight woman with dark brown hair pulled back into a bun and glasses. You're seated, and she's introduced herself already. Ivy was brought in by Jeremy, yes, who handed Mrs. Seville the letter.] [Krista's not there yet. The tardy bell rang, *and* the teacher's talking. Ivy has paint in front of her! And paper.] [Mini Start.] * Ivy 's eyes are all for the paint. Her body posture is slouched down. She slowly moves a hand to the paint, and lightly touches a finger in the blue paint. ["You're welcome to paint whatever you like," Mrs. Seville's saying. "I would have set up easels, but that's for later. It's just the first day of class, so think of it like kindergarten, only without the paint by numbers. We'll work on technique and perspective later, but for now, let your creativity run wild."] [Ivy's fingertip resembles a smurf.] * Ivy turns the finger in her direction and just sort of... stares at it. [The fingertip stares back!] * Ivy, after way too long of time has passed, drops her finger down on the paper. Ooh, look, blue! * Krista cracks the door and steps in, trying to be quiet. She's carrying her book bag, probably because her afternoon schedule really sucks. She looks nervous and sad and in general really looks like she'd rather NOT be late like she is. [Mrs. Seville SEES KRISTA. OH NO. She glances at her attendance sheet, then says in a clear voice that crosses the room and gets everyone else's attention, "Krista Larson?"] [Everyone looks at Krista!] (This is the stuff out of my nightmares.) * Ivy doesn't look up at hearing the name, but she does slowly streak the blue with her finger across the page, a general blank look on her face. * Krista is hit with the piercing voice of attendance, and the piercing look of, uh, everyone. She freezes in place, nods and says hesitantly, "Y-yes? That's me." [Mrs. Seville nods and marks her name off. "You're late. Five tardies and you get a detention, you know. Have a seat. We're painting."] * Krista nods mutely, because, really, what can you say to that? She goes to have a seat, not really paying attention to the where of the seat so much as the comforting 'not being stared at' of the seat. [Krista has a seat next to Ivy, because... well, because this is Krista and Ivy's mini. That and people tend to stare at Ivy over Krista.] (Hooray!) [Regardless, once she goes to sit down, everyone turns their attention from her, and the room turns into the more or less moderately quiet noise of a monitored classroom allowed to talk and paint.] * Ivy dips her finger in purple this time, and streaks it along the page. It... really doesn't look like anything but paint streaks. (No brushes at all? ^^) (Not for Ivy!) (Well, not for Ivy. She's probably scared it will bite her.) (There are brushes, yes.) (*Snicker*) (Ivy tried to use one. It got tangled in her hair. See?) (Bwah!) (Ha ha.) (That's what you get for having a LURID GLOW.) (... 9_9) (At least she didn't use the blue paint as woad.) (As what?) (... I have no idea.) * Krista looks down at her paint stuff and takes a deep breath, before picking up the brush and holding it in her hand. She idly looks around for a second or three. Because what good is an Ivy/Krista mini if they don't know each other are there? (Seen Braveheart?) (The blue stuff on their faces is woad.) (Loooooong time ago.) (Ah.) * Ivy finds the red and dip! Streak! Yeah, she's also not cleaning her finger inbetween dips. The colors are getting a little mixed. Paint foul! * Krista looks at Ivy's paper as she continues holding her brush. Apparently it's curious Krista day. She looks distantly thoughtful, even as she looks. * Ivy moves her finger with the red paint on it across the other two colors, making a funky blotchy mess. She's staring at the paper as if she's not fully there. (Ivy gets an A for effort, right Mrs. Seville?) (... Well, she's not getting any grade, but sure!) (Yay!) * Krista mms and then looks back at her own paint before getting some brown paint and starting her own work. After the first few strokes she pauses, sighs and then glances over at Ivy before saying quietly, "Ivy?" * Ivy pauses mid-streak, but doesn't turn to Krista. Her body is quite still. * Krista looks at her pause, then looks back at her own paper. Brush stroke. "You ran off pretty fast at lunch..." * Ivy turns her head so that she can see Krista. Her eyes slowly studying her. * Krista still has brown hair with hints of red, and dark red glasses over her brown eyes. She has started painting a face. It's an African American face. Well, okay, it could just be African, but how many Africans would white bread girl know? * Ivy glances down at Krista's painting thus far, and then turns back to look at her own paper... and starts streaking again. The three colors are now mixing together in an unflattering... purple/blue/red... thing. ( It's my heart! It's a mess.) (Ha!) * Krista says quietly, "I didn't mean to be startled by your drawing." * Ivy dips her finger in black and begins drawing a cross on a free space on her paper. (Then the draws a circle on top and an upside down V at the bottom and it's a stick figure!) (Ha.) * Krista continues painting then looks over at the cross, then back to her paper as her painting slows and stops. Then she smiles a little and says, "Yes, crosses are very nice..." (... That is SO CREEPY.) (Krista is way creepier than Ivy.) (HA.) (^___^) (... She IS.) (This is what you get for being a Jesus misfit trying not to say, "So, uh, vampires are real, huh?" You say some very odd things. ^^;) * Ivy slowly turns to look at Krista once more. She even searches Krista's eyes for a moment, though what she's trying to figure out is anyone's guess. * Krista looks over to Ivy and smiles at her, a little nervously. "I'm Krista." Her eyes flick to the cross again, but she doesn't comment on it again. * Ivy turns away from her gaze and back down to look at her paper. She dips three fingers into the red paint and streaks the fingers over the cross. ( ... Heathen! Burn!) (Snicker.) (Nah, this just means Krista needs to turn Ivy to the healing light of Jesus!) * Krista looks at the paint and says, "I'm... not sure what you mean." She looks more at her face. "Or why you won't speak..." (Vow of silence to better reflect upon the glory of God, Krista. Duh.) (That would be cool.) * Ivy eyes Krista for a short moment and then dips a finger in yellow. She turns back to her paper and begins drawing a sun. There's even short and long lines coming from the big yellow ball center. * Ivy can't help but get some red in the sun though. Red/yellow sun. It's the apocalypse! (Actually, it's to keep those damn Kryptonians powerless.) (That too.) * Krista mms. "Okay. Sun... cross... funny red streaks across the cross..." * Ivy brings her fingers to the red once more and STREAK it goes over the sun. (Red paint, that is. Which, sure, is likely obvious, but yeah.) * Krista's smile weakens and she goes, "Very red, yes." Pause, then she says mostly to herself, as she looks down at the paper. "You draw a vampire, and Mr. Mendel has a big book about them..." she sighs. * Ivy turns to glance at Krista once again, studying her with a vague sense of curiosity in her eyes. * Krista leans over and digs into her bag for a second, and pulls out a small pockety bible and a cross that fits just about in the hand. "I... had a friend die a month ago, Ivy." She puts the cross and the bible together in both her hands, pressed together. "I don't... know what's up with you." She sighs. "Or maybe I'm just thinking oddly today." She turns towards Ivy and looks at her. * Ivy glances down at the Bible and the cross in her hands... and that's where her eyes stay. * Krista sees where Ivy's looking, looks down at them herself, then looks back to Ivy and hands them both over to her cautiously and says, "They help me, when things get confusing, or bad." Beat, and a weak smile. "I hope they can help you?" * Ivy darts her hands away before either item can touch her. Her chair even skirts a little from how quickly she evaded. She shakes her head fervently. (Don't you mind giving up yours, Krista? No, I have six more on me.) (Only six?) * Krista looks at Ivy strangely, and a bit sadly, sounding equally dejected as she says, "I... I see." She looks away and puts the cross and bible down on the corner of her desk. * Ivy glances at the set down items for a moment more and then puts a finger in orange paint. She slowly writes out 'BURN' right below the sun and cross. * Krista isn't looking quite yet. But she isn't painting either. * Ivy then dips her finger in that red again and traces the letters with the new color. Oooh, highlights! * Krista sighs again and looks over to her, then sees the 'burn' and mms. "... cross burn." She looks at Ivy and says, "Vampires and cross burns?" * Ivy looks over to assess Krista once more, seeming to be a little confused by her response. (You know what would burn vamps a lot? A flaming cross! Yay!) (Yes! Flaming cross gun.) (Wooden pointed flaming cross gun.) * Krista points at the cross and the word burn before saying quietly, "Cross burn. Like... like the vampire picture earlier?" * Ivy cocks her head to the side at Krista, as if she's puzzled. She then turns back to her paper, and dips her finger in black. With the same slowness, she writes, 'They can feel it.' * Krista nods and continues, quietly, "Right, because it burns them..." * Ivy pauses a good moment, looking down at the paper. Finally, she moves her hands to fold up the painting. She continues folding it over and over again. [The painting's still wet. It blotches on itself!] (Ivy's going to be a famous tie-dye artist, just you wait!) * Krista clasps her hands in her lap and murmurs, as she watches Ivy be crazy, "Talking about vampires. To other people. God help me, I'm not actually crazy." * Ivy pushes the folded paper away and then picks up her backpack from the floor. She opens it and pulls out her drawing pad and pencil that Krista saw earlier. She turns to a fresh page and begins doodling. Bits of paint get all over her pencil... well, and her backpack, but Ivy doesn't seem to mind. * Krista gives Ivy a bit to draw, turning back to her painting and working on it a little more. Schoolwork, schoolwork! [Mini End! They're both crazy!]
