* Krista leads to her car! Her boring, boring, old family car, which I can't remember if I described. * Krista says, as she walks, "So, um, where do you two live?" * Ivy eyes the car as they near it, but she doesn't look unimpressed... okay, she doesn't look impressed either, but what do you do. * Ivy glances over to Jeremy in answer to that question. ["Uh, Tiger Lily Lane's Ivy's place. I can get home from there. Know where it is?] * Krista shakes her head slightly. "No, sorry..." she trails off, then, "I might have to pick up my brother first if it's too far away." * Krista unlocks her car and gets in and stuff. And it even has power locks. Ooh. * Ivy gets in the backseat! (No making out in the backseat you two!) (You can never get the sin out!) (Mwehehe. Taint the car Ivy and Jeremy! TAINT IT.) [Jeremy gets in the back seat with Ivy. Roomy! "Sure, that's cool."] * Krista nods and starts up the car, heading towards her brother's Junior High. She's quiet at first, for sure! Her radio is on NPR. Geek. (... NPR? Is that Christian radio or talk radio? ... Or neither?) (National Public Radio. PBS for Radios.) (Ah, gotcha.) (Lots of news, talk, and jazz/orchestral.) * Ivy is quiet too! Imagine that. * Krista finally says, "It doesn't seem like we've only been in school a week." [Jeremy shrugs. "I guess it all runs together, kinda, but... uh, yeah. Lots happened."] * Ivy glances ahead as Krista talks, but she can't really see her. [Ivy can see the BACK OF KRISTA'S CHAIR.] (And my hair! It's brown.) (Brown brown brownity brown.) (With some red.) (So it's like brown brown brown brown brown red red brown brown brown. There.) * Ivy sees the back of Krista's chair AND brown hair... with some red! * Krista nods a little. Driving driving driving. "It's... yeah." Beat, and a weak laugh. "And very strange happenings, too." Beat. "Complete with a odd teacher." ["Mr. Mendel's kinda... okay. I mean..." Jeremy glances at Ivy, then says, "Yeah, he's weird."] * Ivy looks over to Jeremy for a moment and then looks down. ["I wonder what he keeps in that suitcase," Jeremy says idly.] ["Didja ever see him open it?"] * Krista shakes her head slightly and says, "I believe it would be books. He has... quite a few books." Beat. "Not normal books." Beat. "In Latin." * Ivy starts fidgeting with her hands. Ooh, fingernails. ["Cool. Wonder why he didn't become a Latin teacher and kick out Ms. Balen."] * Krista says, "I... don't know." She then, after a sec, glances over to Jeremy and smiles weakly. "Oh, look at me being foolish and going on about Mister Mendel... um.... how is your arm feeling?" * Ivy's head lowers a bit more at that question. ["Oh, that? It'll be fine. In time for Homecoming for sure, so I can start if they want me." He grins, not that Krista can see it. "Not sure 'cause I'll be missing practice, but I'll at least be on the bench."] * Ivy's body, if possible, scrunches itself even lower... without falling over or looking terribly silly, that is. [Krista nears the junior high school! It's pretty quiet, probably because that school lets out before Lakeview.] * Krista nods a little. "That is good..." she glances back to Ivy in the mirror. "... Ivy? Are you all right?" * Ivy jerks her head up to look over Krista-ward, her eyes slightly wide, a little guilt on her face as well. After a few beats, she nods slowly, and then glances outside to look at the junior high. [Jeremy reaches over and pats Ivy's hand.] * Krista looks back forward because she has to locate her brother! "Okay." A weak laugh. "It'd be horrible if I made the most popular girl in school sick in my car." (Yes, her lack of social sense is apparent.) * Ivy looks over to Jeremy and gives him a sad, gentle smile, her eyes drawn to his arm. Then she glances back over to Krista once again and gives her a tiny smile and then shakes her head. * Krista pulls up in front! Luke better be there. [Jeremy squeezes Ivy's hand. And as Krista approaches the front doors of the school, one of the doors open and out runs a thirteen year old, bookbag over his shoulders. He's wearing a black t-shirt and jean shorts and is kinda skinny, with short, light brown hair, hazel eyes, thin glasses, and freckles. No acne just yet.] (Luke? Wow, good thing he doesn't go to their high school or that could be confusing!) * Ivy's body relaxes a slight bit as Jeremy squeezes her hand, though her attention is back outside the car again. [The boy runs right up to the car and pulls the door open, plopping in the passenger seat before slamming it closed again. "Krista, you're late! I almost-" He pauses, realizing something's wrong, and he looks into the backseat.] [Jeremy waves, a little sheepishly.] * Krista smiles a little at him! Come on in, little kid, I've got bibles^H^H^H^H^Hcandy. "Hello, Luke. These are Ivy and Jeremy... their mother's car broke down so I'm giving them a ride." * Ivy looks over to the newcomer and gives him a shy smile as she also waves. (I make up for Krista's dryness with comments.) ["..." Luke turns to look at Krista. "How much did you pay them?"] * Krista looks aghast. "I did not 'pay them' to have their car ride break down. Seatbelt." ["Aw." He buckles, though, and grumbles, "Liar."] * Krista doesn't respond to his baseless, baseless insult! She does drive. ["We're not actually related," Jeremy puts in, "But, uh, yeah." Pause. "You're Luke?"] ["Yeah," Luke says, feigning disinterest. Or maybe he actually isn't interested.] ["Cool. I'm Jeremy," the high schooler answers. Luke doesn't answer.] * Ivy begins fidgeting again. * Krista asks back, since Luke isn't holding up his end of the conversation, "Um... where is Tiger Lily Lane?" [Jeremy starts giving directions. It's pretty straightforward. Meanwhile, Luke starts playing with the radio stations.] * Krista follows directions! So acquiescent. "So... um, when does the football season start this year?" [Luke finds what he wanted and settles on what's probably a top forty station! He raises the volume as Jeremy tries to respond, hip hop music blaring through the speakers.] * Krista says, donning the 'nun' tone of voice for a second, "Luke! Turn that down. Jeremy's trying to speak." ["October sixteenth," Jeremy says, a little louder than he should have to.] [Luke sticks his tongue out at Krista. Super mature!] [But he turns it down. ... A little.] * Krista sighs slightly and offers up a silent prayer for her brother. [Luke glances back at the high schoolers. It's not a mean look, just a curious one.] * Krista looks back to Ivy and asks, "Has art been going okay for you, Ivy?" She uses the mirror to look! So high tech. * Ivy glances up to look Krista-ward yet again! She nods gently a few times. ["Hey, can you talk?" Luke asks curiously. Jeremy glares at him, and he shrinks back a little.] * Ivy's eyes drift over to Luke and then down to the car floor. * Krista glances to Luke and says, disapproving again, "That was very insensitive of you, Luke." ["Sorry," Luke grumbles, facing forward again.] ["Was just curious."] (You and everyone else, kid.) * Krista drives like she has ranks in the skill. Perhaps even two. "So, how was school today, Luke?" ["Okay." He's obviously uncomfortable.] * Krista sighs slightly again, not pressing. [Jeremy doesn't say anything either. And Ivy... yeah. They get to Ivy's house without further incident. It's a two story beige thing sandwiched between two other homes; not as nice as Krista's family's, though it's not like they're badly off.] (See what happens when you have 5 appearance? Your house sucks.) (Bwah!) ["Uh, this is it," Jeremy says.] * Ivy gives Krista a small smile, squeezing her shoulder just before opening her door. Before getting out she gives Luke a soft smile and a wave goodbye and then gets out! [Luke blinks in surprise, then he grins and waves, too. Jeremy gets out of the car. "Thanks, Krista!"] * Krista stops before Ivy gets out! We don't want the girl to get road rash. She looks back at the leavings and saying, "Have a good night." ["You too. See ya, Luke." And Jeremy shuts the door, walking with Ivy to the house.] * Ivy walks to her house! With Jeremy, even! [As Ivy and Jeremy leave, Luke turns to Krista. "They're okay. ... Are you *sure* you didn't pay them?"] * Krista waits for them to make it inside before leaving. She says standoffishly, "Yes, I believe I would remember paying them." Beat. "So what happened at school?" [Luke flops back into his seat. "Nothing, really. Just some stupid stuff."] * Krista mms. "Mother and father are going to ask too, you realize." ["Stupid *boring* stuff."] As if that would stop them from asking? * Krista sighs again and turns down the music volume herself as she drives. So talented. [Luke stares out the window, not even turning it back up.] [Session End.]
